I think newer writers should start getting some of the attention always thrown McCarthy's way. "The Road" is not up to the hype.
Try reading John Montfort Gist. He's young, bordering on brilliant and virtually unkown. "Lizard Dreaming of Birds" was an excellent novel and I'm waiting on a copy of his newest "A Clearing of the Way" Can't wait.
